Happy gobble gobble!
Yes, it's Thanksgiving (already!). Martin and I celebrated with a nice dinner out at "Joe Allen", the American restaurant here in Paris (near the bar, as a matter of fact), where we watched the election results last November. The restaurant is overwhelmingly American - with a lot of Broadway posters and American memorabilia decorating the walls (and US football playing on the tv's in the bar). We had a delicious dinner of black bean soup, roasted turkey with dressing, sweet potatoes, and green beans, followed by apple/cranberry crumble (me), and pumpkin and cheese enchiladas, honey baked ham with yams and mashed potatoes, with a pecan pie dessert (Martin).
Conversations overheard throughout the evening were about the upcoming Iowa and New Hampshire primary elections, and tv / football. The wait staff was from France, South Africa, and Colombia. Sure we would have rather been in either Omaha or Reno celebrating with our families, but his Thanksgiving was special, too.
So to our friends and family who might be reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we were definitely thinking of you!
